BORED WITH CHICKEN? I hear a lot from our clients that they get bored with chicken… and I have to admit that I’ve said it a few times myself! When you start a journey into cleaner eating the first protein you go to is chicken for a number of reasons. It has a lower fat and higher protein rating than most other meats. It is a natural anti-depressant (who knew??) and will naturally boost your metabolism! However… you can still get pretty tired of eating it day after day after day. So… ya gotta get creative! But still keep it simple. Who has time time prepare a huge chicken dinner anymore? Here are four quick chicken recipes to spice up the menu and keep preparation time low! Bon appetit! Time for a heartfelt story from my friend, and one of my Coaches, Nicki who’s been on a journey that started long ago. She’s come so far and I am so incredibly proud of her… I’ve never compared pictures of my “before and after” mostly because it’s been a really bumpy ride. Lots of up and downs. I’ve always been a bigger girl… not huge, but never fit. I ate what I wanted and kept busy riding horses and such, but never any sort of working out. The left picture is of me at my heaviest. It was a year out of university. The right is a few weeks ago. I never had a “light bulb” moment, but about a year after my heaviest I had a job where I was really active and lost a lot of weight. I felt great and when I started to gain some weight again (never got my eating in line) I freaked out and took up running and did that for a few years. Somewhere along the line I found some cheap fitness DVDs and had pretty good results with them, but I was obsessive. I worked out a good 3 hours a day… running 12 miles was an easy day for me. I didn’t see at the time, but I was too small. At that point, I became pregnant with our first child and gained a lot of weight. I felt miserable the whole time. 6 tips for staying on track this weekend

It’s FRIDAY! The day of the week that by 6pm most people will say screw it! However, how do we stop that cycle of saying “I’ll start over on Monday”? Get back on the wagon PRONTO! The faster you’ll get back on the wagon, the faster you stop the cycle. We all work so hard all week long to exercise, eat healthy, make good choices and then the weekend comes…we relax and so does our will power. For some, the wine and beer is on tap, the happy hours are calling, and then our inhibitions are lowered and BOOM… we give in to temptations. Then Monday morning comes and we’re singing the “fresh start Monday” song, feeling defeated for our choices and lack of control. Talk about a mind bender! How many of you have felt this way one time or another? We struggled with it too! Monday to Friday right on target and then 4:30pm on Friday would come and the cycle would start with celebrating our week by rewarding ourselves with treats! However, we got to a point where we had to ask ourselves… “Is this bag of Kit Kat Bites (or bag of chips) better than all that freaking effort from last week?” Then we’d take a look at the calorie count of the treat… Our answer was a quick NO!!
